DAY ONE: I’ll never forget the day that I met Tim, a young man with cerebral palsy. He came up to me after a concert and shared with me about his journey overcoming what some might call a disability. He said his favorite Bible verse is John 9:1-3 where Jesus and the disciples passed by a blind man. The disciples asked Jesus,

“Why was this man born blind? Was it because he sinned or because his parents sinned?”

Then Tim looked at me and he said, “Do you know what Jesus’ answer was?” Well, he must have been able to see in my eyes I hadn’t memorized that Bible verse so he said, “Don’t worry, I’ll tell ya!” Jesus said, “This man was born blind so that the works of God might be displayed through him.” Tim said, “Some people might look at me and think God made a mistake, but I know I’m here for a greater purpose.” When the world tries to make you feel like you’re not enough, just remember that you were created by a God who doesn’t make mistakes. And you were created so the works of God can be displayed through you. It’s time to start over, starting now – today is Day One.

Fueled by a passion to take his music beyond entertainment, Matthew West and a dedicated group of everyday world-changers came together to inspire hope, healing, purpose, and meaning.
