Unplanned

31 years ago, a scared, sexually assaulted, pregnant 13 year-old and her family entered an abortion clinic. They were lied to and told this would help the trauma. None of them knew how much this day would change their family.

Serena: For years I would hate this day. I would cry, battle depression, lack self worth, and look for ways to numb my pain. I was hurting the people around me and I didn’t know why. February 14th was suppose to be a day that reflected love, but this day only reminded me of the deep loss of my daughter, who never got to enter the world.

If anyone would have ever told me that I would wake up on this day without crying, being angry, depressed, and feeling worthless, I would not have believed them. The scars were deep. The hurt was too much. I was in a pit that I could not claw my way out of.

But God had other plans. He extended his hand to me and pulled me out of the dark pit. He put a healing balm on my once raw heart and has given me a freedom from depression and all the things that once destroyed me.

There is healing, forgiveness, and hope after abortion. It does not mean we forget our children, we will never forget them. It just means that we are out of the pit that once kept us captive and was destroying our lives.

I no longer suffer in silence. Today, I’m healed and free because of the love of my Jesus!

If you are in dark pit after abortion, there is forgiveness, hope, and healing. The same Jesus who met me in that dark pit will meet you too. He wants to lavish you in love. He wants to set you free. He loves you so much. Sweet friend, he wants you to find his grace.
