Beckki: I would like to share with you my God moment- how God stepped in and carried me home from Seattle, WA to Charlotte, NC. I married my best friend, Wesley, on April 23, 2022.
On May 18th, the day before we were to return home from our honeymoon, my husband had a major heart attack and died. Having to leave him at the hospital and get myself back home was the hardest thing I have ever faced, but God was with me the whole time.
First, by sending a group of angels to surround me while the first responders tried to keep Wesley alive. They comforted me, prayed for me and prayed for Wesley. He sent an angel to help me get our bags from the rental car facility to the bus shuttle that would get me to the airport. The bus driver could tell I was upset.
He asked me if I was ok and I said “No sir. I just lost my husband and we were on our honeymoon.”
He asked, “Are you a believer?”
I responded, “Yes sir, I am.”
He said, “Let me pray for you.” He prayed for my safety to get back home and for my luggage to make it back without issues. It was too early for me to check in at the airport so they had me sit in a spot reserved for people waiting for wheelchairs. After I finished a phone call, a gentleman sitting across from me asked, “Did you get everything taken care of? Are you ok?”
I replied, “No sir, I just lost my husband. We were on our honeymoon.”
He asked me, “Are you a believer?”
“Yes sir, I am.”
He said, “Let me pray for you.” After he prayed, he began to tell me about losing his wife. He told me his name. He said, “I am Sugar Ray Seales. I was the only American boxer to win a gold medal in the 1972 Summer Olympics. He showed me his gold metal and placed it around my neck.
I flew from Seattle, WA to Newark, NJ. Not an easy airport to get around. I was in concourse C and was told I needed to get to concourse A. I could not find anyone to help me. I stopped and asked God to please help me, I could not miss my flight, I needed to get back home to my family. My eyes drifted to the right and I saw a lady at a counter helping people. I got in line and when it was my turn, with tears in my eyes I said, “I need help. I just lost my husband while on our honeymoon. I cannot miss my flight and I don’t know where to go.” She asked me, “Are you a believer?”
“Yes ma’am, I am.”
She grabbed my hands and started to pray for me. There was a line of people behind me watching what was going on. She said to me, “honey, don’t you worry! I will make sure you make your flight.” She found someone to cover her shift. She took me by my arm and escorted me back to concourse C and to my gate. She said, “I’ll be right back.” She came back with a sack of food and water for me. She had my seat changed to the front of the plane so I could get off quicker and get to my family that was waiting for me.
Finally, I made it to Charlotte. I got off the plane with two carry-ons, my heavy backpack, and Wesley’s CPAP machine. I was exhausted, like I was carrying a ton of bricks. I looked up and prayed to God to give me the strength to get to my family. I made it to the baggage claim and saw my mom and daughter waiting at the end of the escalator. Once I made it to them, I just dropped my bags and collapsed in the arms of my mom, daughter, and sister-in-law. They took me to Wesley’s parents’ house (I have the best in-laws anyone could ask for) and I was welcomed with a house full of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. All of them were there to love on me, showing me God’s love!
Although my heart is crushed, I stand tall being a BELIEVER in Jesus Christ. I know that all things work out according to HIS purpose and that I don’t need to know the plans HE has, I simply need to have faith and trust HIM.
