A Parent’s Biggest Fear

“The doctor said that I would never walk, talk, or even be functional.”

A Parent’s Biggest Fear

To Matthew: My name is Kaity. I’m 37 years old and I would like to share my story (and it’s a GOD story too.)

On August 11, 1985, I had a near drowning accident in my swimming pool in my backyard. I was 2 1/2. My mom came home and my older brother met my mom in the driveway. He told her that he couldn’t find me. My mom looked for me in the house but she did not find me. She heard a voice inside her head saying, “go to the pool.” That’s where I was, so my mom jumped in and brought me out and did CPR on me. I was rushed to the hospital. I was on a ventilator and other breathing machines. The doctors took my mom and dad into a room with a kid on life-support like I was. The doctors asked my mom and dad if they wanted to pull the plug on me and my parents said “no.”

I finally woke up after I was in a coma for 24 hours and on life support for 3 days. I was finally breathing on my own. The doctor said that I would never walk, talk, or even be functional. I had to relearn everything…how to walk, talk, and even function. My favorite thing about my story is that I went to Heaven. All I remember about Heaven is that I was in a bunch of wild yellow flowers, twirling around and being free (You cannot find that feeling of freedom anywhere else).

I hope you’ll enjoy reading my story and I hope you’ll get something out of it.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Phillipians 4:13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

I like to share my story with other people and it gives them a glimpse of what GOD can do.

Inspired to Share Your Story?

Matthew likes to call the moment he decided to follow God his " Blue Couch" moment. When you craft your story, you can share your "Blue Couch" moment or other stories where you have seen God at work in your life.
