Lori: I was baptized at 17 1/2 for all the wrong reasons. See, when I was 16, my mom left her family for her lover. We were all devastated, so I turned to the first man that had anything to do with me. Then I couldn’t get out…he threatened suicide if I left.
So here is why I got baptized…the church was next door to my mom’s house and it made it easy to get ready for my wedding. The baptist church made me get baptized before I was allowed to be married in that church. My family never went to church.
I joined a church when I was 40 and became a baby Christian. When I was 49, I went to the Emmaus Walk and that lit the light in my heart that has not wavered. I wear a Christian tee 9 times out of 10, and I have the back of my car filled with Christian magnets from ‘God10’. I give my testimony to everyone I meet, to the embarrassment of my family! God has been with me through so much: lupus, breast cancer, melanoma, both hips and knee replacements, chronic pain…you name it.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13
