Hope

Hope

My name is Hope! I’m 17 years old and I am a senior in high school. God began working in my life when I was just a baby, when I wasn’t even born yet, in fact. When my mom was pregnant with me, she had a ton of complications. She had to be put on bedrest and totally thought she’d lost me several times. Early on, the doctors often struggled to hear my heartbeat, and they tried to prepare my parents for the seemingly inevitable miscarriage they would experience. But Mom and Dad never stopped praying for me! Somehow the doctors would eventually find my heartbeat appointment after appointment until the day of my birth finally arrived.

Mama rushed to the hospital only to find out that I was completely breech, turned the exact wrong way. She was rushed into a C-section and thankfully everything went smoothly, and I was born a happy and healthy baby! A little while later, the head doctor walked up to my mom and said, “You know, I wasn’t going to say this before, but I never had much hope we’d see this baby’s birthday.” That’s how I got my name, Hope!

Telling this story always makes me so excited! Every time I hear my name, I’m reminded of how God saved me! And the thing is, He must’ve saved me for a reason! I don’t know what that reason is yet, but like you say in your song “You Are Known,” the plans that He has are bigger than my wildest dreams. I cannot wait to see what He’s going to do! Whatever ends up happening in my life, it’s going to be fantastic because God is going to be with me!

"You know, I wasn't going to say this before, but I never had much hope we'd see this baby's birthday."
