I Heard the Music

“No, it couldn’t be!”

I Heard the Music

Ed: This God moment just happened last Saturday in Mons, Belgium.  If you can believe it, my wife and I were spending the last day of our European vacation together with our daughter.  She is a Captain in the US Army.  She is stationed at the NATO headquarters in that very town. We had been there visiting with her and her family over the holidays. We were sitting in the Leonidas Chocolate Shope Café eating a few of their delicacies, while my wife was drinking her favorite coffee, a Cappuccino.  This café makes the best in all of Europe.

We were chatting and listening to Christmas music coming over a solitary speaker in the wall and I couldn’t believe my ears! No, it couldn’t be! Matthew West was singing, “The Heart of Christmas!” Tears flowed from my eyes and being so choked up I could barely get the words out of my mouth to explain what was happening.

Here we are, the three of us, in a small chocolate shop in Belgium and I hear the lyrics defining our situation to a tee. “Live while you can and cherish the moments and the ones that you love, make sure they know it.” My daughter started to cry too as I blurted out, “My story!” I am starting to tear up again just writing this.

Matthew, thanks for spreading your music to all parts of the earth!
